Life fighter - Su Tian-Zong

To stand up again “Iron-man” in the making

Su Tan-Zong from Taipei, Taiwan, was involved in a traffic accident while riding motorcycle a few years ago. Since then, he has been partially paralyzed. The scheduled wedding was forced to cancelled after this unfortunate event. However, with the assistance from FREE Walk robotic exoskeleton later on, he is able walk again. Not only did he get back his life, but also reclaimed his joyful living. Furthermore, he walked down the marry lane in 2016, to now even added a new member to the family. Let us take a look at Tian-Zong’s story.

FREE Bionics Inc. founder and CEO Wu Cheng-Hua accepted the “Wa-People” editor in chief Wang Li-Juan interview

In 2012, a group of people with disabilities cycled around the island; they pleaded with the government, hoping it can help them stand up again through the national resources and technologies. The DOIT, Ministry of Economic Affairs, handed the task over to the Mechanical & Mechatronics Systems Research Laboratories at ITRI, Industrial Technology Research Institute. When Wu Cheng-Hua received the task “to help people with lower limb paralysis to stand up and walk again,” he felt it was meaningful and took on the challenge. But even to Wu Cheng-Hua and his team’s surprise, they not only receive the 2016 R&D 100 Awards, but also were able to spin out from ITRI in 2017 and became an Independent company FREE Bionics Inc.
